What Must You Do to Be Saved?

The gospel is God’s power to save and in it is revealed the righteousness of God (Rom. 1:16,17). The righteousness of God is God’s plan of salvation that makes a sinner righteous.

That plan has conditions that the sinner must obey. This is made very obvious in the book of Acts, as one reads about the conversion of men and women in different places. One sees the word “do” mentioned over and over. Yes, there is something to do to be saved! See such passages as Acts 2:37; 9: 16:30; 22:10.

One must hear the gospel (Mark 16:15); believe that Jesus is the Christ (Acts 16:31), repent of his past sins committed (Acts 2:38), confess with his mouth that Jesus is the Christ (Rom. 10:9,10), and be baptized for the remission of sins (Acts 2:38). This is what men and women (Acts 8:12) did in New Testament days in order to be saved. This is what one must do today to be saved. God does not change, nor his gospel, nor the need of sinful man to obey the gospel.

If you sincerely seek the salvation that God graciously offers you in Christ Jesus, come let us help you to understand more perfectly the way of the Lord (Acts 18:26). Be an Apollos! The truth shall make you free (John 8:32).
